Overview
This feature is especially useful if you want to ensure a minimum total for each shopping cart while giving your customers the freedom to choose their preferred products. Please note that it is an additional feature that requires activation by our Customer Care team.
Setting Up A Minimum Order Value in Your Price List
Once the feature has been activated in your account, you can access it on the Price List settings page:
- Open your price list.
- Click "Actions" on the top right, then select "Settings" from the dropdown.
- Under Minimum order value, add the amount you want to set as the order threshold. By default, it is set to zero, meaning there is no minimum order value.
To ensure a smooth checkout process, customers who have not yet met the order threshold will see a prominent note about the checkout requirement note directly in their cart. This clear notification guides them on how to proceed with their purchase. Here's a preview that shows the note in the new shop edition 2025.
Please know that you can opt for either a mandatory package or a minimum order value, not both. As with the mandatory package restriction, the minimum order value feature is supported in both the Proofing and the Prepay shop.
Apply per access code:
When enabled, Customers must reach the order threshold per access code and customer ID. When the same customer places a second order for the same job, they must be logged in to their customer account, so the system can identify their customer ID. There are three option to log into the shop:
- Using the login form on the shop page
- Using the login functionality on the address page during the checkout process
- Using the login button or link within an email notification.
This way, the restriction won't apply to their second order.
If a customer uses the same access code, but is not logged into their account, they’ll need to reach the minimum order value again. This applies across all jobs linked to that access code.
When disabled, the minimum order value is required per order, regardless of the number of access codes used.
The Takeaway
A minimum order value can be set according to your preference to avoid accepting orders below a certain amount and discourage minimal purchases, like a single lower-priced print. This approach often encourages customers to spend more, potentially leading to larger orders. While it serves as an alternative to the more common mandatory package purchases, it still allows customers the flexibility to buy items à la carte if they prefer.
