Overview
If you're unable to upload a custom background for your contact sheets, the issue is most likely due to the file size of your PDF exceeding the allowed limit.
Why file size matters
Our system accepts PDF background files up to 1.5 MB in size. Files created or edited in graphic design tools like Photoshop or Illustrator often exceed this limit.
For reference, the original background template file is only 879 KB.
How to reduce PDF file size
Use these methods to ensure your PDF background meets the size requirements:
- Use compression options: When exporting your file to PDF, choose a more efficient compression setting. Most design tools offer presets like “Smallest File Size.”
- Avoid unnecessary elements: Remove unused layers, images, or embedded fonts that can inflate the file size.
- Use PDF/A format: Choose the standard PDF/A format during export. This ensures compatibility and can reduce file size by eliminating unsupported features.
The takeaway
If your custom background fails to upload, check the PDF file size. Aim for under 1.5 MB, and use PDF/A format when exporting. Optimizing your design settings can help you meet the file requirements easily.
