Understand your Finances with GotPhoto
I. Applicable Fees
GotPhoto charges you:
- A monthly or annual subscription fee (not applicable for Enterprise customers). In both cases, we will charge the credit card you saved in your GotPhoto account.
- A service fee is applied per order on gross revenue (percentage is based on your plan).
- Payment fees:
A payment service fee of CAD 0.30 per order.
A volume-based fee per transaction: 2.9% per order.
- Editing fees (if applicable) charged per image.
II. Billing
Please check which of the following scenarios applies to your account.
1. Your account was created on or AFTER May 14, 2025
- Your customers pay in CAD
- You're billed in CAD:
- A payment split is applied: when a customer places an order, the GotPhoto service fee and payment processing fee are automatically deducted from the customer's payment.
- Your monthly invoice includes your subscription fee, if applicable. In addition, the invoice provides a detailed summary of all service and payment processing fees that were deducted from your customers’ orders throughout the billing period. You will receive a per-order breakdown, clearly outlining the service and payment fees applied to each order. The total amount of these fees is then offset against the final invoice amount, ensuring complete transparency and accuracy in your billing.
- You can view the full list of features included in each plan in your Plan Settings.
Not a customer yet? Explore our plans: Choose between flexible monthly and yearly options. Compare features to find the perfect fit for your needs.
2. Your account was created BEFORE May 14, 2025
- Your customers pay you in CAD.
- Your GotPhoto fees are billed in USD. A conversion rate is applied to all charges based on the exchange rate at the time of billing.
- All GotPhoto fees are charged in your monthly invoice.
What's ahead?
In the upcoming months, all billing will be processed in Canadian Dollars (CAD), bringing greater transparency, predictable pricing, and peace of mind for your financial planning.
Why we're changing how we bill Canadian photographers- and why now?
At GotPhoto, we’re always looking for ways to enhance your experience and simplify the way you run your business, especially when it comes to billing. We’re excited to announce that we’re working on transitioning to billing in Canadian Dollars (CAD) for all our Canadian photographers. This change reflects one of your most requested improvements, and we're thrilled to start making it happen.
Because the transition involves some complex adjustments to our current billing systems, it will take a bit of time to apply the changes to existing accounts, and we’ll need your support during the process. There will be a few steps where your input will be essential to help us complete the switch smoothly. More details and instructions will follow soon. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we roll out this much-anticipated update! Would you like to receive immediate updates once a migration date is confirmed and/or be part of the first group to migrate? Sign up here.
How does the current billing in USD work?
Example:
Example calculation (Growth plan):
- Customer Payment (gross amount) CAD 43.69
- Service Fee = 10% of C$43.69 = C$4.37
Order date's exchange rate (May 2, 2025) = 1 CAD = 0.7238 USD Converted to USD: C$4.37 × 0.7238 = US$3.16
Let's break it down:
- The service fee is calculated as a percentage of your CAD order total.: Growth Plan: 10%; Pro Plan: 7%
- The transaction fee (for payment processing) is 2.9% + C$0.30 payment fee, also in CAD.
Let's assume you're on the Growth Plan and make a sale for C$43.69, your platform and processing fees are based on that C$43.69- not some inflated USD number. The only minor variable is the daily exchange rate, which can cause slight fluctuations between: The day the order is placed and the day the invoice is issued. These fluctuations are minimal, usually a few cents. We’ll soon remove this uncertainty altogether with the switch to CAD billing.
All other fees, such as your monthly hosting fee, optional editing services, order entry fees, and the Entagged subscription, follow the same pricing structure.
Please note that your lab will charge production and shipping fees directly.

Language Settings
- For your customers' convenience, the online shop is available in both English and French (you can find the full list of supported languages in your Online Shop language settings). Please note that certain section, such as "Price Packages", require you to enter the French translation in the designated translation fields. Here's how you can enable additional languages:
- In your Online Shop Settings, enable any additional languages you’d like to offer—for example, French. Once enabled, your customers will see the shop navigation in their selected language. - In your package settings, you’ll then find a new tab for each additional language you’ve added. Open the tab to enter your translations for package names and descriptions.
- You can change your admin area language settings at any time from the bottom left corner of your account settings in the admin area. By default, your account is set to US English. Important updates, such as product news, feature announcements, and event invitations, are only published in US English. To ensure you don’t miss any essential communications, we recommend occasionally switching back to the default language (even if you prefer using UK English or French for your daily work.
- Communication Profiles: All pre-loaded communication profiles are in English. However, you can create new ones in French. A quick way to translate the communication profiles and to keep the design intact is to copy the source code (see below) and translate it via your preferred AI tool. Replace the translated code and save the settings afterward.
