Overview
Use this guide when you run a corporate headshot photo shoot and want subjects to choose their preferred image after the shoot. The GotPhoto Favorite Photo feature lets each subject select one image, which you can then retouch and deliver to your client (the company’s primary contact).
This guide assumes basic familiarity with the GotPhoto platform. If you need a full walkthrough of the corporate headshot process, see the Step-by-step corporate headshots workflow guide.
Enable the favorite photo feature
Start by enabling the Favorite Photo option when setting up your photo job. This determines whether subjects can choose a preferred image.
Step 1: Enable favorite photo during job setup
After creating your job and selecting a tagging method, enable the option that allows customers to select a favorite photo.

For corporate headshots, select Yes – Favorite Photo (General).
[Optional] Enable Restrict Selection to Qualified Photos if you want subjects to choose only from pre-approved images.

This option uses 5-star ratings from Lightroom (or ratings applied directly in the album). Only images marked with five stars can be selected as favorites.
- Use this if you upload many images and want subjects to choose from only 2–3.
- If you upload just 2–5 images and all should be selectable, leave this unchecked.
Continue with the job setup. Once the job is set to selling, subjects can log in and choose their favorite photo.
Favorite photo selection in the shop
Once the job is live, subjects can select their favorite image directly in their gallery.
Step 2: Select a favorite photo as a subject
After logging in, the subject sees a Favorite Photo section with a Change Favorite Photo button.

A selection window opens where the subject can choose an image.

The subject selects an image and confirms the choice. After confirmation:
- The popup closes.
- The thumbnail updates if a different image was selected.
- The message You haven’t approved your favorite photo yet disappears.

After selecting a favorite, subjects can download digital images and purchase prints or products as usual.
Use favorite selections in the admin area
As subjects make selections, you can track and manage favorite photos in the admin area.
Step 3: Review favorite indicators in photo management
In Photo Management within the album, icons appear under images to show their status.

- Pink heart: Image selected as the subject’s favorite. This image is included in exports unless manually overridden.
- Orange icon: Image rated with five stars in editing software such as Lightroom. Required when selection is restricted to qualified photos.
- Yellow star: Index image. Used as the default export image if no favorite is selected.
You can also view selected images in the List of Names.
- Open the Settings tab of the photo job.
- Select View names.
- Check the Photo column to see the indexed or favorited image.

Export favorite images
After all selections are complete, export the final images or filenames for delivery and retouching.
Step 4: Export selected images or filenames
The recommended method is outlined in the corporate headshots step-by-step guide (Section 8), which uses student data export.
[Optional] If you only need filenames:
- Go to the Settings tab of the photo job.
- Select View names.
- Open the Export dropdown.
- Choose .XLS or .CSV.

In the exported file, column W contains the image filenames.

The takeaway
The GotPhoto Favorite Photo feature simplifies corporate headshot workflows by letting subjects choose their preferred image. This reduces back-and-forth, ensures clear retouching instructions, and makes exporting final images faster and more reliable.
