The new shop delivers substantial performance improvements over the old version, powered by enhanced data insights:
- 10% average sales increase (measured by GMV per activated access code).
- 44% higher mobile conversion rate, as 80% of shop traffic comes from mobile devices.
- Up to 20% higher sales for school and nursery jobs.
Legacy shop retirement update
Update June 3, 2026:
After two years of continuous development, customer feedback, and real-world success, the new GotPhoto Online Shop has become our primary e-commerce platform and the foundation for all future shop innovation.
The legacy shop is planned for retirement in July/August 2026 (exact date to be announced). We recommend setting the new shop as your default shop for all future jobs and beginning your transition as soon as possible.
All future shop innovation, feature releases, and commerce improvements will be developed exclusively for the GotPhoto Online Shop.
For more on the Online Shop transition, read our latest update from CEO James Micklethwait on the future of the GotPhoto Online Shop and the planned retirement of the legacy shop.
Stay up to date with the Online Shop transition
We're excited about what's ahead for the GotPhoto Online Shop. As we continue bringing more features, improvements, and innovations to a single platform, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
For the latest updates, transition milestones, feature releases, and helpful resources, visit our:
Online Shop Transition Hub - your central source for migration updates, feature availability, and important timelines.
Check the FAQs section in this article for more information about the transition timeline, next steps, and what to expect.
Activating the new shop
You can set the new shop as your default option for all future jobs in your online shop settings (click Online Shop on the left side navigation).

First, ensure that your jobs are eligible to use the new shop. If any features listed under the limitations section of this article apply, the system will automatically default to the old shop.
You can enable or disable the new shop on a per-job basis. Existing jobs will not be updated automatically, you must manually switch each if needed. A bulk migration solution is in development.
There are two ways to enable the new shop for a job:
1. Activate the new shop when creating your new job
For each new job you create, you can choose to select or deselect the new shop.

2. Activate the new shop on the job settings page
- Navigate to Photo Job > Settings > Actions > Edit Job Information.
- Check the box to activate the new shop for this job.
- Click “Save Settings.”

[Warning] If your job or price list includes unsupported features, you won't be able to activate the new shop. A message will explain why.
[Important] If a job is already live with the old version, switching will trigger errors for customers. They will need to log in again and have their shopping carts reset during the transition. We therefore recommend making the switch during a period of low customer activity. Please also note that jobs must currently be switched individually, as bulk switching to the new shop is not available at this time.

Explore the customer experience in the new shop
The new shop features a clean, modern design to guide customers smoothly through their purchase journey.
Entering the shop

Package selection
Customers can switch between Packages and A la carte (called Individual products in the UK)
To see what's included in a package, select Packages and click View package.

In the next step, customers can:
- Select the pose for each product (if it’s a multi-pose package)
- Select the background for each image (if applicable)
- Review and adjust the crop
To help customers notice background customization, an extra button is shown. If they miss it, they will receive a prompt before adding the package to the cart.

In the Select & edit screen, they:
- Select their pose
- Select a background (if applicable)
- Review and adjust the crop

Once finished, they swipe to the next product and repeat the steps. When all selections are done, they confirm and proceed to the next product in their selected package.

After selecting all poses/backgrounds and reviewing the crop, customers can add downloads (if offered), next, they click Add to cart.

A reminder will appear for the background selection to ensure customers don't miss that they can change the default background. Afterward, the package can be added to the cart.

[Note] The ability to restrict a package to a single background is not yet supported.
Download all (PNGs): Customers selecting the “Download All” package can choose backgrounds for the first 20 images, then continue for the rest.
Individual products (à la carte) selection

Price list (checkout) restrictions
1. Mandatory package

2. Minimum order value

Shopping with multiple access codes that are using the same job
Customers with access codes for multiple children in the same job can access both galleries.
- If the customer has shared their email and received job communications, they can use the email login link to view both galleries.
- They can also manually enter all access codes on the shop access page or during the shopping session.

Shopping across multiple jobs that are using the new shop
The new shop fully supports ordering across multiple jobs that use the new shop. Shoppers can access the shop either via the direct login link or by entering their access codes at any time during their shopping session. Once inside, they can add products from up to five different access codes in a single shopping session, making it easy to combine items from multiple jobs into one cart before checking out.

[Note] As with the old shop, pricing and product availability may differ between jobs.
[Shop Video walkthrough]
Shopping across multiple jobs using both the legacy and the new shop
If individual access codes from the legacy and new shop are combined, customers will automatically be redirected to the new shop experience. This ensures a more consistent shopping journey and allows customers to benefit from the latest shop features and conversion improvements.
Customer registration
The new registration form is now embedded directly on the page to prevent pop-up blocker issues. If set as [Optional], customers can dismiss it by clicking the 'X' icon.
Supported shop languages
The new shop currently supports these languages (with more to come):
- English
- German
- French
- Spanish
- Turkish
- Polish
- Russian
You can add these languages in your shop settings.
Personalized Products
The new shop now supports products with personalizable text fields, enabling customers to add custom information such as names, teams, or other individual details to each item. This feature applies to users in the US and Canada who offer lab products with customer text personalization.
Package view
Below, you can see the shop view displaying a package that includes customizable trader cards.
A customer first clicks "View package" in order to make their selections for each product of the package.

Next, within the package, your customers can scroll through the items, select their preferred pose, choose cropping and background options for each product via the "Edit" button. When they reach a customizable item, they click “Select & edit photos” just like they did for the previous items.
In addition to selecting their pose and adjusting the crop and background (if applicable), customers will also be prompted to enter their custom text.

Customers can only confirm their selections and add the package to their cart only after all required text fields have been completed. The same rule applies when adding a personalized item from the à la carte section. A note will appear and remind customers to add the personalization.
In the cart, customers have one final opportunity to review their custom text. If they wish to make any changes, they can remove the package or à la carte item and add it again with the updated text. The option for customers to edit the cart is planned for a future update and is currently on our roadmap.

A la carte view
In the À la carte section of the shop, customers will see a “Customize photo” button, which prompts them to enter their specific requirements.
Now supported in the new shop
Wishlist (available upon request)
The wishlist feature in the new shop allows customers to save their favorite photos and easily purchase matching individual products later.

The wishlist feature in the new shop is available upon request. It currently supports individual products.
Customers can
- favorite pictures
- manage and update their wishlist
- order individual products directly from the wishlist without needing to reselect their images.
Please note that the following features are not yet available in the new shop and are planned for future updates:
- Support for packages
- Shared wishlists
- Saving wishlists for later for signed-out customers
- Deleting an entire wishlist
- Creating multiple wishlists
Global Access code
The new shop now supports the Global Access Code, which can be shared with organizations to access all galleries within a job. This also replaces the legacy shop access type “One access code.”
The feature is now available for all jobs using the new shop. Please review the updated workflow below.
The Global Access Code enables principals, directors, and organizers within your organizations (e.g., schools or sports leagues) to access all participant photos efficiently and securely.
Using the global access code as a job's single access code in the new shop
The legacy One access code option is not available as a standalone access type in the new shop. You can replicate this workflow using the Global Access Code feature:
- Open your photo job and go to Shop settings.
- Select Access code for each person as your access type.
- Choose QR Tagging or QR Tagging with list of names as your tagging method.
- Under Expert settings, enable Add global access code.
- Copy the generated global access code and share it with your customers.
Customers who enter this code will see all photos in the job - the same experience as the legacy One access code option.

Global Access Code FAQs:
Does the shop display albums in the new shop when using the Global Access Code?
Albums are not available just yet, but pagination is already in place to ensure smooth and easy navigation.
Is the wishlist available with the global access code?
Yes, the wishlist feature is now available in the new Shop upon request. Our team will be happy to activate it upon request.
Can I prevent the global access code from being used to purchase the “Download All” package in the new shop?
Yes, in volume jobs with 200 or more photos, the “Download All” package will not be visible in the new shop.
This also applies to digital packages and upsell downloads that exceed 199 photos, meaning these options cannot be purchased once the limit is reached (the shop will hide these options).
Are the features, Global Connection Code and Find your access code, supported in the new shop?
No, these legacy features are not available in the new shop.
Content protection feature for jobs using the new shop (optional)
This new feature is designed to protect your images when viewed on desktop devices. It replaces the original image with a protected version that clearly indicates copying - including screenshots - is not permitted and actively blocks common methods used to bypass these protections.
Additionally, right-click functionality on desktop and long-press actions on mobile devices are disabled to further discourage copying or saving the images.
Our in-built content protection features for the new shop can be enabled or disabled- you have the choice, learn more here: Content protection: Prevent screenshots and reduce image theft in your GotPhoto shop.
Screenshot Awareness Modal (optional)
The Screenshot Awareness Modal appears when customers access the shop and informs them about screenshot restrictions before they proceed. This adds an extra layer of protection to help safeguard your work.

Mobile and desktop content protection in the new shop through our SnapShield integration (optional)
