Pricing
Price lists are entirely customizable, offering your customers a range of products and services. Many photographers use the same price list for all jobs, and while we don’t recommend having a different price list for every job, there are occasions when it makes sense. It’s also an excellent opportunity to test how new price lists could boost sales.
If you’re running a traditional proofing job, there is a column for a recommended price next to product packages. Complete this column to show your customers the actual value of a package compared to the discounted price. Everyone loves a discount, and this is a smart way to show customers they are getting the best deal.
If you’re offering a la carte items (which you should because they can boost your sales), consider making the purchase of a package mandatory to prevent parents from only purchasing an a la carte item.
Another option to improve your average order value is setting a minimum order value. This is not enabled by default in GP, but a quick call to the Customer Care team, and they can turn it on.

Jobs & Upselling
Plan ahead by creating your Photo Jobs a few days before the shoot. This ensures that everything is ready to go. And don’t forget—always test your job before it goes live to avoid issues! Consider these best practices for naming your job:
Job Name: This public-facing name will appear in your online shop. Choose something clear, like the school or event name paired with the year—e.g., "[Organization Name] — [Year]." For frequent shoots with the same organization, consider adding the month or season, like "Spring Portraits 2024."
Internal Job Name: This private name will label folders in your directory and stay behind the scenes.
That’s not all! Here are a few proven strategies to boost your sales this season:
Increase Average Order Value: Offer a "Download All" package with a free print. Don’t forget to factor the print cost into the package price to protect your profits. You could also offer digital downloads as an add-on to encourage larger package purchases.
Drive Overall Sales: Use date-sensitive job coupons to create urgency. Promote them effectively and send reminders to parents before the coupons expire. Set up an archiving date to capture any last-minute orders, and send out a final email reminder to prompt action.

Special Tips from the Customer Care Team: Nameslists
Here is a list of tips and resources from the GotPhoto Customer Care team to help you prepare and upload a names list successfully every time.
- Always use the provided template on the GotPhoto website for the nameslist
- Avoid deleting columns or editing the template too much (leave columns blank if no info). Editing/deleting columns causes issues with Student Data Exports
- Review the entered information several times to ensure the names are correct and all of the entered information is in the proper column. Please remember that GotPhoto requires a names list in UTF-8 format
- Use Google Sheets for the best CSV view
- Export name lists properly by using “export > CSV” to make edits and then reupload the newly edited file under “import different list”
- If using a names list or roster made by a league or school, review the names list to make sure all information is correct/accurate and clean
- Always use a new nameslist for every new job (do not reuse nameslists)
- Make sure all of the information is consistent (For example, do not name some of the teachers “teacher” and some “staff” under the same column)
To recap:
- Always use the GotPhoto CSV template
- No alterations to the original CSV template besides adding the school info
- All added info needs to be clean, accurate, and consistent
- Use a new nameslist for every job
