Overview
Do you have a Corporate Headshot photo shoot where you need to allow the subjects to make their favorite image selection after the shoot? This guide is for you. This guide will cover how to leverage the GotPhoto Favorite Photo feature so that subjects can favorite an image that can then be retouched and delivered to your client (the primary contact at the business).
This guide assumes you have a working knowledge of the GotPhoto platform. If you need a step by step guide on how to use GotPhoto for Corporate Headshots, the guide is located here.
After you have created your job and have selected your tagging method, the very next option is the feature to allow customers to select their favorite photo.
For Corporate Headshots, you will want to use the Yes - Favorite Photo (General) option. An additional option to consider is Restrict Selection to Qualified Photos.
This feature allows you to leverage the 5-star rating in Lightroom (you can also set 5-star status on the image in the album) to restrict the favorite selection to only 5-star images. This is great if you are uploading a larger number of images and only want the subject to pick from 2 or 3 photos. If you are only uploading 2-5 images and all should be selectable, leave this setting unchecked.
Continue with the job setup. Once you set the job to selling, subjects will be able to log in to their gallery and select their favorite photo. In the next section, we will show what that looks like.
When your subject logs into their gallery, they will see a section called Favorite Photo with a button to Change Favorite Photo.
The client will be presented with a pop up.
They click on the image they would like to make their Favorite and click Confirm Selection. Once confirmed, the pop up will close, and they will see the selection thumbnail change (if they selected a different image). The text You haven't approved your favorite photo yet will disappear.
The subject has made their selection and they are free to download their digital images and purchase prints and products.
As your subjects make their favorite selections, you can visually see the process. Under Photo Management within the album, icons will show below the images.
- The pink heart icon identifies the image that has been favorited by the subject. Unless overridden manually by you, this is the image that will be included in exports and other lists.
- The orange icon notates images that have been set to 5 stars in your editing software (i.e. Lightroom). If you use the Restrict Selection to Qualified Photos option, only the images with this icon will be selectable as favorites.
- The yellow star icon notates the index image. This is the default image that will be included in exports unless a favorite is selected by the subject or you change the default. (Note: Typically, the index image is the first image for the subject. In the above example, the 5-star flag was set in Lightroom for a single image which made it the index. If you have the subjects select their favorite at the photo shoot, this is a great way to set that image in GotPhoto.)
You can also see the images selected under the List of Names feature. Go to the Settings tab of the Photo Job and click the blue Manage Names button. On the right side of the page, you will see the Photo column. This is the image that is currently indexed or selected as Favorite.
Once your subjects have completed their selections (or you have set the index images yourself), you are ready to export the images.
The recommended option is covered in our Step-by-Step Guide (Section #8), leveraging the student data export functionality.
Additionally, if you have your own process in place and only need the image names for the images selected, download the names list, and it will include those favorited (or indexed). To do this, go to the Settings tab of the Photo Job. Click the blue Manage Names button. In the top right, select the Export drop-down, choosing either .XLS or .CSV.
Column W of the downloaded spreadsheet will have the filenames.
The Takeaway
Effortlessly enhance your Corporate Headshot shoots with GotPhoto's Favorite Photo feature. Subjects can easily pick their preferred images, streamlining the process for efficient exports and improved client satisfaction.
