Overview
Stripe Express is GotPhoto's payment processor. With Stripe Express, you will be able to receive payment by credit/debit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. In this article, we'll review the steps to set up your Stripe Express account within GotPhoto.
Setup
- To set up your Stripe Express account, click the blue Dashboard button on the Payment Methods page.
The Payment Methods page can be found by clicking into the Settings tab, and then clicking on Payment methods under Sale in the navigation menu on the left-hand side. - You will now be directed to Stripe. Even if you already have a Stripe account, you will need to create a new account. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- You will now be redirected back to GotPhoto. Your account is now connected to your Stripe account. Clicking Modify will allow you to update your statement descriptor, i.e., the text appearing in the charge on your customers' card statement. It will also allow you to disable Google Pay and Apple Pay. However, we highly recommend activating them as they are the most widely used payment apps. To see these options, customers will need to have a valid credit card saved in their Apple Pay / Google Pay account. It's also crucial for customers not to use the incognito mode and to enable the settings in their browser that allow sites to check if they have these payment methods saved.
Send a Test Payment
Once you have set up Stripe Express as the payment provider, we highly recommend placing a test payment to ensure the integration is up and running for your customers. You can do so by completing the following steps:
- Create a new Price Profile.
- Add a download product to the Price Profile with a selling price of $1.
- Assign the Price Profile to a demo job. Use the preloaded job "Demo Preschool," which contains some sample images. Don't forget to click Save!
- Make sure the job is set to manual revision so it doesn't accidentally get sent to the lab.
- Navigate to your shop as a customer. You can find your shop links in the upper toolbar by clicking on "To your shop..." next to the globe icon:
- Enter the access code TEST:
- Add the download to your cart and follow the checkout steps.
- Navigate to your order page to verify that your order was placed and that the order is shown as paid:
- To refund your order, locate the Refund button on the lower right hand side of the Order Details page. Clicking this, ensuring the full amount is typed out in the text field, and clicking Save are the only steps needed.
- In a few moments, the payment will appear on the Order page as "Refunded." The payment will return to your card after it is processed by your financial institution, usually within ~48 hours.

A Note on Transaction Fees
All payment processing companies apply a credit card processing fee on the seller's end of a transaction. While this fee cannot be transferred to your customers directly, you can easily adjust your Price Profile(s) to offset this fee in your pricing structure.
The Takeaway
Effortlessly integrate Stripe Express with GotPhoto for secure payments via credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Simplify setup through the Settings tab, and enjoy the flexibility to customize settings, ensuring a smooth and secure online transaction experience.
