Creating your own products: Own Products vs Production Tab

You might have noticed that there are two areas in the system, where you can create products: 

1. Own Products

Under Settings (top menu) > Labs & Products > Own products, you find some basic settings to create your own products.  This area has been created only for Direct Shipping orders, its functionality is very basic, therefore, we would only recommend using it only if you just want to offer an additional Service like a retouching service or a sitting fee. Otherwise, if you want to offer more products, especially print products,  please always use the Production tab for all of your products on the top menu. We're happy to activate it for you.

You can define your product categories and shipping fees, the shipping fees you set up here will be applied to all of your own products. This is also one of the reasons, we ask you to use the Production tab, there you can create different shipping groups and assign them to individual products. Q: Can I force orders which include my retouching product to Manual Revision, so that I can revise the order before it goes to the lab? 

A: Yes, simply check the box for Manual Revision, then all orders which include this product will go to Manual Revision after they have been placed, you'll also be notified by email once you have orders that you need to revise. Q: I realize that I have created all my prints under Own Products, I want to move them to my Production Tab - Is that possible? 

A: Yes, we got you covered! Go to your product overview, click Actions and select Copy to your lab. The system will then move the product to the same category of your Production tab. Just make sure that you adjust all price profiles were you've added the moved products. Also, ensure that you assign a shipping group to the products if they have different shipping fees as the default shipping group you've set up under the Production tab. 

 

Q: Can I add orders from my Own Production in the order entry? 

No, this is not possible. Please consider moving your products to the Production tab. The Production the supports the order entry. 

 

2. Production Tab

You find the Production Tab on your top menu. Please reach out to us, so that we can activate it for you. 

The production tab supports direct shipping and batch shipping.

Once you have set up the production tab, you can start adding products. 

Creating your own products is easy:

 

1. Go to Products in the Production tab
2. Click on products & then on the blue button “Create new product"
3. Write a name, a brief description and select a product category and click on Save
4. Find the product you just created and click on the Actions button, and then "edit"
5. Click on select image, find the product image, open it and then click on “upload" 
*Upload only compressed images, max 500px in the longest edge.
6. Then, click on the button below to add a new size
7. Write the dimension and name for your new product, if you don’t want to allow cropping on this product, leave the width and height fields empty
8. Save

Q: Can I force products into Manual Revision, so that I can revise them before they go to production?

Q: Can I offer trading cards or any other specialty products where I need additional information from my customers?
