# Next Gen: Best Practices for Individual Posing

### **Overview**
Just as scaling is important for team photos, posing for individuals is equally critical. Even though Next Gen uses face detection for centering and applies quality control, individual graphics like memory mates are created through an automated process that requires balanced and controlled posing. This guide explains how to achieve the best results for athletes in Next Gen.
### **Balanced posing**
To ensure proper cropping and alignment, keep poses centered and symmetrical.
- Position the subject’s face in the center of the frame. An unbalanced pose may result in an off-center final image.
### **Consider full-length vs. three-quarter**
Choose between full-length and three-quarter crops before photographing, as each requires different posing considerations.
- Next Gen supports either full-length or three-quarter crops. This determines which poses will look best in the final graphic.
- **⚠ Important:** For each Photo Job, you must choose **either** full-length **or** three-quarter poses. Mixing is not supported.
- Next Gen does not support landscape (horizontal) poses for graphics. Only vertical (portrait) images can be processed. If horizontal images are submitted, they will not be included when the job is completed.
### **Know your products**
Different products display poses differently, so plan ahead based on your offerings.
- Some poses may not look appropriate on certain products. Review your sales catalog and select poses that translate well across your intended products.
### **Pick a pose**
Offer pose options while maintaining quality control with pick-a-pose boards.
- Print and display pose boards during your shoot. These give athletes clear choices while ensuring poses you’ve pre-approved for graphics and products.
- This balances customer preference with consistent quality in the final images.
### **Square up**
Ensure your camera is level before capturing images.
- Use your camera’s in-camera bubble level to confirm the camera is straight. This prevents the need for post-edit corrections.

To achieve high-quality individual images in Next Gen:
- Keep poses balanced and centered.
- Select full-length or three-quarter crops before shooting. Landscape (horizontal) poses are not supported for Next Gen graphics
- Match poses to the products you plan to sell.
